Outdoor storage is permitted only in industrial zones, and is
considered incompatible with the area located in the District. As
a result, only legally preexisting, nonconforming uses with outdoor
storage are recognized and shall be entitled to the statutory protection
offered to such uses. Preexisting, nonconforming uses may not be expanded
or modified; however, owner/operators of sites with such storage are
encouraged to provide visual screening of outdoor storage from the
public right-of-way, internal roadways and adjacent properties. Vegetative
landscape screening may be installed without the need for full site
plan review, provided landscaping is installed pursuant to a landscape
plan authorized by the Commissioner. Screening which involves fencing
is also encouraged, but must meet the requirements of the Building
Code and Building Division.
